Una pace non come la dà il mondo, la pace del potente che ha sottomesso il debole. È la pace che proviene dal dono dello Spirito, legame di fraternità. Già al tempo dei Romani Tacito scriveva Ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant, fanno il deserto e lo chiamano pace. Deserto, solitudine, questo il marchio dei potenti. Il dono dello Spirito è il dono dei legami di prossimità e di riconoscimento.

A peace not like the world gives, the peace of the powerful who has subdued the weak. It is the peace that comes from the gift of the Spirit, a bond of brotherhood. Already in Roman times Tacitus wrote Ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant, they make a desert and call it peace. Desert, solitude, this is the mark of the powerful. The gift of the Spirit is the gift of bonds of proximity and recognition.
